Now, so many apps on internet we are using such as facebook, google, instagram, twitter and many more I can’t mention it. We have to register to using those apps. Of course, you have to register username and password when you’re registering the accounts. But you have to be careful about your accounts to prevent password stealing. You have to make sure your passwords are safe when you connected to internet.
But don’t worry, there are some tips to protect your passwords from stealing. Here it is.
Clear Browsing Data once You Finished Browsing on the Internet
The first tips is you have to always clear browsing data before you close the browser. If you are using Firefox, Chrome or Microsoft Edge, you can do it by press CTRL + SHIFT + DELETE. Clear Browsing Data dialog box will appears. You have to make sure cookies, password and sign-in data are checked and then click Clear data. No problem if the other options are checked. Using Combination Characters as Password
Don’t using “123“, “abc“, or common words as your password. It’s better to using combination characters instead of “123” or “abc”. Here is an example a strong password “Mars99$#&!”. Password with combination characters of alphanumeric and symbol is stronger than alphabet or numeric only. And one more, password length is important. Password with 15 characters is harder to break than password with 5 characters.
Don’t Using Birth Day or Personal Information as Your Password
Don’t using personal information such as your birth day, your age, your parent, your pet, etc as your password. People around you might able to guess that!
So, never use personal information as your password if you want to avoid password stealing.
Don’t Leave Your Computer once You Just Logged-in
Do not leave your computer once you just logged in. Stay in front of your computer for a minute until you see confirmation box which ask you to confirm whether you let browser to remember the password or not. Just click either Save or Never immediately. Why does it matter? Because someone can see your password behind asterisks.
I want to explain the process below. When you login to your account, the browser will ask you “Save password?”. The computer user still able to show the password behind asterisks by clicking eye icon for few seconds once you logged in. After that, the account’s password only can be showed by entering the Windows password.
Only Log-in to Your Account on Your Personal Computer
It’s like number #4 above, If you don’t confirm it immediately, the key icon on the right of search box is still appears. It’s always appears unless you confirm it. If someone click it. They able to show your password, but it require Windows password. If you do it on your friend’s computer. Of course, your friend can see your password.
